Statue # 8 - Sardine Girl

A statue in rememberence of all the women working in the sardine industry in Stavanger's past. This one despict a woman carrying a frame sardines for smoking.

Ti øre timen (10 øre an hour) is about 1,5 US cent an hour. That is what they earned.

Not much money for so much work. A very interesting statue showing how the little sardines are smoked.

Hi Tanty! Nice photo. I like that it is a memorial to women workers...many of them are for the men.
