DP Theme Day - Doorways

Today is the theme day for daily photo family. The theme for this month is doorways. It has been raining day and night for a week. So I only managed to take few pictures of doorways and I chose this one. This is the doorway of the Stavanger Domkirke.

44 Daily Photo sites are participating in the 1st September theme. Please visit them to see other doorways from all over the world.

This is such an interesting doorway! I like how the columns seem to roll right into the door.

I love this doorway Tanty. The stark wood contrasts so well with the rough Light stone work. Nice.

The door looks so tiny surrounded by all the stonework. But the metal work on the door itself gives it more power.

Is the Domkirke a church? That was the first thing that came to mind for me.

Susan: Domkirke is a cathedral :)
You can see the whole building here:

It seems like a fairly small door for a cathedral, no? And by the way, you just ended your new 10:10am tradition. What's up with that!

Beautiful.

Hi Matt!
Yes, it's quite small coz it's an aisle door. I couldn't take a photo of the main door coz at that time the door was open and some people standing in front of it.
About 10:10am tradition :) It's only for today coz today is a special day - theme day. I want to post it as early as possible.
PS. I know that you will notice this ;)

Wow, does Harry Potter live inside? Excellent shot.

When you get time, I'd love to see a real photo of a bottle of aquavite with the equater marking inside. Of course, it's your choice if the bottle is empty or full!

Tusen tak!

Michael: Linje aquavite is an interesting alcohol. They make it here in Norway, age it on wooden barrels and then send it on sea journey around the world for at least 4 months. Here is the link that tell more about this interesting brand.

I can not show a picture because me and my husband don't drink alcohol and have no such bottle to photo. But on the website there is a photo of the bottle and a full story to read.

Wow, now that's an impressive door. Actually, its a little intimidating. The head on top is very unique, a patron? Founder?

Wiki will let you know that it was built between 1100 and 1125 !

Wonderful mix of wood and stone.
